Hey, Mom, Surprise!

What a fabulous surprise I received today! I learned that all the kids and the grand will be here for Mother’s Day weekend! And the best part—I didn’t plan any of it.

The three families live in three different cities, two different time zones, and have a variety of work schedules. Having all the kids home at the same time happens 3-4 times a year. I know—more than many families experience. I get that. But it’s still not as often as I would like.

There is just something about everyone together under one roof, especially our roof.

It fills me up like nothing else. I’m stumped for words. It’s warmth, coziness, happiness, fun, and repeat.

Yep, I will ask for gifts (they’ll want to know what I want). I will tell them a pretty white casserole dish from Crate and Barrel so I don’t have to use the glass Pyrex on Christmas. And I’d love a nice pair of silver serving tongs for salad, ice, and veggies.

But truly, their presence under one roof for several hours is all I want.

No gifts necessary. Just my kids.
