Today We Lived in the Present.

The meaning of Memorial Day is never lost on my husband. As a Marine he fought in the Vietnam War, and yes, he came back to a not-welcoming homecoming in the States. But he doesn’t talk about it. He just doesn’t. Once in a blue moon he might offer a morsel, but don’t ask because he won’t talk about his experience until he’s ready.

So today we lived in the present. We worked on my honey-do list all day! In my defense most of the items needed to be done—replacing a broken kitchen faucet, underground fence for two golden retrievers who like to run (just ask our neighbors), and digging out the fire pit so it is ready for the kids’ visit this summer.

We had a ball working together.

Yes, it was made possible by the many, many soldiers who gave their lives and we are forever grateful.
