This is a picture of our crew today. We had a wonderful time catching up, being together, and watching The Grand run around.

The kids cooked and cleaned up—what a treat! Katie and Joe made my famous chocolate cake. It was perfection!

They gave me a beautiful white casserole dish made in France! I feel like my cooking will be better and maybe I should wear pearls when working in the kitchen.

And while Mother’s Day is about moms, for me it is about the wonderful kids who make me feel loved and special. I took a minute today to express my love and appreciation to the kids, especially to our son-in-laws.

Gene and I are so thankful for these three exceptional young men. They treat Gene and I with respect. They genuinely like and love us. They are such a blessing to us. I love the relationships I have with each one. Each relationship is unique and sweet.

When our daughters were dating, Gene and I would tell them (half teasing, half seriously), “Choose wisely.” We wanted them to think, Is this the kind of guy I want to end up with? Now that they are all married and doing well, it is evident that they chose wisely.

This Mother’s Day more than ever I am thankful for my family, Gene, the girls, The Grand, and especially the son-in-laws.
