The Word for Today is. . .

Today’s word is grace.

It softened all the hard edges in my day. In every conversation, book I read, and thought, I was made aware of how I (we) are in constant need of grace from others and ourselves, and how it needs to flow from us to others and ourselves.

I made more than one mistake today that affected others. I needed to give myself grace. I need for others to give me grace. And they did.

And while I don’t feel offended by anyone, a dear friend felt terrible for being a little late to meet this morning. It happens. No big deal. She still felt bad. I gave her grace. I believe she accepted it. She needed to give herself grace. After several apologies to me, I think she finally did. Who hasn’t been there?!

And that is exactly my point. We are imperfect people bumping into other imperfect perfect people as we live together in this world. Grace is essential if we want to experience joy. It is also essential if we want to grow in relationship with those we love and those who may be future loved ones.

God was the first to give grace to us. It is the least we can do for others and ourselves.

BTW—Why another picture of The Grand? This little guy knows nothing but grace from his loving parents and four adoring grandparents!
