Permission to Live the Summer You Desire

I talk a lot about priorities—prayerfully deciding them and then faithfully living them. I truly believe that is the way Jesus lived. He knew what was His from His Father and what was not.

Sometimes it’s hard to figure that out. This summer God has loaded up my life. His latest addition to my beyond-myself life is a summer science class. God’s additions to my life make it richer and more rewarding, but it demands I ask myself even more often—

What’s important?

What’s important?

  • Spending time with my girls when they have breaks this summer.
  • Keeping up friendships.
  • Serving God faithfully in my writing and speaking.
  • Doing well, but not perfect, in my science class.

What’s not as important, but still whines for my attention?

  • Weeds
  • My pathetic, neglected garden
  • House projects
  • Home organization

I would love to give the above more attention, but they’re just not on my list from God for this summer.

The above picture shows the fruits of my Saturday morning—making food for this weekend’s meals with friends and family.

What will be your priorities this summer?

What will get the least of your attention—no matter how much it whines?
