New HGTV Show?

Today I did something for the first time—I used an air nail gun. I was promoted from construction-assistant-who-just-holds-one-thing to construction-assistant-who-holds-one-thing-and-sometimes-gets-to-use-the-nail-gun. I am really enjoying working with Gene on the fence.

This afternoon before we worked on the fence we worked at Kelsey and Caleb’s house. Gene “mudded” a couple of rooms and I helped Kelsey paint. So with all the construction experience I’m getting this summer I’m wondering if Gene and I and Kelsey are ready for our own HGTV show. I’m thinking of titles like—

  • The Construction Guy and His Wife (and Daughter)
  • The Family Who Builds Together Stays Together
  • After Hours Construction (since Gene has a day job)
  • The Construction Guy and His Apprentices
  • Any Ole’ Excuse to Buy Tools (Gene’s suggestion!)

Okay, so I’m not very clever with TV show titles. The main point in all of this is the fun we are having working (and I mean working) together on our kids’ dream. We have helped the other kids with their dreams too. We have moved them so many times! And one more move is coming up soon for the Chicago kids!

We listen to their dreams and do what we can to encourage and help. Yep, it’s exhausting and Gene and I are kinda achy tonight. But that’s what Aleve is for!

Stayed tuned for more pictures. . .
