Make One More Memory

Today is one of those days where I cleared my schedule and am soaking in the moments of being a mom. Poor Kerry is home from college with influenza. After consulting with the doctor all she can do to get better is rest, fluids, and ibuprofen for her fever. She is mine at home until she gets better. I’m not happy she is sick. But I want to enjoy this last time of taking care of her before she gets married.

We are watching TV and talking about nothing of importance. I will make her favorite mac and cheese for supper. We looked through pictures from the summer. We are making one more memory.

These kinds of days are never scheduled. But when they come we need to see them and stop for them. They needn’t be sick days, but any day. If we let them, the days will tick off and we won’t feel we like we were even a part of our lives.

Whatever is on your agenda today, will you step out back from it and see the people in your life? Will you make the effort to really connect with your loved ones? Will you breath in the air of today? For me the literal air is a refreshing, cold north breeze of fall. Figuratively it is being the mom who takes care of her sick girl one more time.

Every day is precious. Every day is a gift. Look up to God and thank Him for today’s gifts and enjoy.

Gotta go enjoy this day with my girl!
