Good Medical News for the Garrison’s Today

Today was a good day of medical news for the Garrison’s.

This morning I had my two-week postop appointment. My foot is healing nicely. Over the course of the next two weeks I can transition from my black boot to my running shoes. I will miss wearing my heels and sandals for a while! The nurse took the bandage came off and the doctor removed the Steri-Strips so now I can get my foot wet! Little things, I know. But it feels so good to know my recovery is headed in the right direction.

Then this afternoon Gene and I took both dogs to the veterinarian. Remi needed vaccinations. Riley needed a physical to determine if the lumps in her hind quarters would confirm our worst fears.

The veterinarian did a biopsy and analyzed it onsite. The results—Riley is fat but does not have cancer! Her lumps are fatty cysts that overweight, older dogs sometimes get. Poor Riley! She does not like to exercise and she loves to eat! But for the most part, Riley is healthy and will be with us for many more years.

Today both my doctor and Riley’s doctor reassured us that nothing was wrong—Riley does not have cancer and I can be more mobile as long as I listen to my body.

No big life lessons tonight, only an “Ahhh” and much thankfulness to God for our good medical news.
